Postpartum Education and Support to Benefit from Sales at Modern Nursery Websites

SEPTEMBER 30, 2009 – Postpartum Education and Support (PES) – a 501(c)(3) organization providing support services to mothers and their families who are dealing with postpartum mood disorders – has partnered with Modern Living, LLC, to receive 10 percent of the company’s website sales until October 31.

Modern Living will donate 10 percent of all sales of regular-priced items at www.modernnursery.com,

www.pokkadots.com, or www.wallstickershop.com to benefit PES and its programs. Shoppers must type in the code MOMS4MOMS at checkout for the donation to be made to PES.

Dedicated to the emotional wellness of mothers, PES offers support for mothers and their families; provides resources for health care providers; and heightens public awareness of postpartum mood disorders.

“Making the decision to provide assistance to Postpartum Education and Support was an easy one for our company,” said Devin Weisleder, COO of Modern Living. “Postpartum Mood Disorders affect so many families, yet so few people are willing to talk about them. We applaud PES for helping struggling families, and, more importantly, helping mothers get past a postpartum mood disorder and back to the business of mothering.”

About 30 percent of new mothers will have a postpartum mood disorder.

"Modern Living hosts a wonderful group of sites providing fun, unique and innovative products for babies and families," said Anne Wimer, PES founder and executive director. "We are thrilled that this fantastic company has chosen Postpartum Education and Support as the beneficiary of this very generous program.”

Moms Supporting Moms, the signature program of PES, is a peer-led support group for mothers dealing with postpartum mood disorders. With weekly meetings at two locations and a warm line staffed by trained volunteers, Moms Supporting Moms works directly with mothers – and their families – who need help handling postpartum mood disorders.

Postpartum Mood Disorders fall under a wide spectrum of mood changes that can range from anxiety to depression and can include: uncontrollable crying, panic attacks, feeling overwhelmed or hopeless, having disturbing worries or intrusive thoughts of harm to one’s self or baby. Symptoms of Postpartum Mood Disorders can occur within a few days of delivery or anytime in the first year postpartum.
